Rex Rouse, CMSP

As a Certified Mine Safety Professional and having over 16 years experience. Rex understands the importance of miners safety as well as the challenges of working within the mining industry.

The Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) is the side of the
United States Department of Labor that is responsible for the
health and safety of all miners in the United States.

U.S Labor Secretary, Hilda Solis, said, "Under my watch, enforcement of our labor laws will be intensified to provide an effective deterrent to employers who put their workers' lives at risk. OSHA and MSHA will be about workers -
not voluntary programs and alliances."

Whether the goals of your organization are to become a safety powerhouse, maintain compliance, or just want to offer something extra to your employees;
Safe Steps Training can help.

Safe Steps team of safety professionals care.
That's a small word with a big meaning. Safe Steps Training is a company that was born out of Rex's desire to see men and women return home safely at the end of the work day.

We are "Creating Safer Steps" in your workplace through innovative, interactive, and interesting safety training. As well as comprehensive consulting services, inspections, evaluations, speaking engagements on various topics, and offering Online safety training.

Safe Steps has a team of professionals that are able to offer services in a wide variety of areas. Our MSHA Instructors are Approved (MSHA does not certify instructors) by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. We teach both Part 46 and Part 48 Surface Mine Training. We were the grand prize winner  in the 2007 and First Place winner in the 2011 National Mine Safety and Health Administration Training Materials Competitions in Beckley, WV.

 MSHA requires all Surface Miners to have twenty-four (24) hours of New Miner training initially, then a minimum of eight (8) hours refresher training each year thereafter.

Your employees are the most important part of your organization and believe it or not, they "want" quality safety training. You "need" quality safety training to reduce injuries and control costs. Government regulations "require" safety training.

Just because it is something that MSHA requires does not
mean it can't be both informative and interesting!

Rex & Mitch mix it up during MSHA trainingCheck out Rex and Mitch during the
First Aid portion of an MSHA Refresher Training. A refresher needs to be refreshing, not borrrring! MSHA requires the same subjects to be taught each year. Its up to you how you get it across to your miners.
